About Osteopathy:

Osteopathy is a non-invasive physical treatment suitable for the whole family. Osteopathy focuses on aiding the body’s ability to heal itself. It works with the structure and function of the body and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligament and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

Osteopaths have a number of tools in their metaphoric toolbox that help restore your body to a state of balance. Tools such as physical manipulations, stretching and massage to increase nutrition to the area and joint mobility, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms.
Osteopaths also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

What to expect:
Allow 30-40 minutes for your first appointing. At your first visit I will do a full medical case history including any current medication you are taking. I will then ask you to dress down to expose the area of concern, but please bare in mind I may need to assess your full spinal posture which will require an exposed view of your spine so please wear underwear you are comfortable in, such as a sports bra or vest and shorts.

I will take you through a physical examination to assess your joint mobility, spinal
movement and posture, I will explain everything as I go along. I will take you through my findings and the treatment I would like to do. You are free to say yes or no to any treatment and to withdraw consent at any time. If you feel at all unsure or uncomfortable please do feel free to say so. Also feel free to ask any questions relevant to your treatment or treatment plan.

At the end of the treatment we will arrange a follow-up appointment if required, which will be 30mins.
